Where to Stay
Ouray Hot Springs Pool Park – You will be able to tent camp in the park outside of the hot springs during the swim meet. It is first come first served. Check in will start 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1st. Check out August 4th at 3:00 p.m. Security will be at the park at night. There will be popup type camping just north of town. The site will be marked with Special Event. You may start camping there at 3:00 pm on Thursday and be gone right after the meet on Sunday.
We want you to enjoy your camping experience. Make sure that you do not leave food at your camp site. We have animals that might help themselves.
Where to Eat
The 7th & 8th grade will be selling breakfast items and the swim team will be selling lunch options. There is also shop at the pool and they will be selling food. There are also restaurants that offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check the restaurant for the need for reservations.
The Elks lodge will be offering an all you can eat dinner including spaghetti w/ sauce, bread, salad and dessert for $8.00, on Saturday night.
What to Do
There are many fun things to do in Ouray during your stay. Pool will be open to the public from 5 pm to 10 pm on the three days of the meet.
Check out the pool pass information https://ourayhotsprings.com/rates-2/ . Tip! Buy a punch pass with another family or friend. It doesn’t expire and lowers the price!
Remember the sun screen. The Screaming Eels are at a higher altitude!
The Colorado Kur will be offering sport massages at the east side of the pool. 10 minutes for $15 or 20 min for $30. You can sign up at the massage tent. Full length massages are also available.
Since the pool will be closed spectators may place chairs anywhere around the pool except right next to the lane lines. That will be a “viewing” area which will be a standing area that is right next to the lap lanes. After the last session for each day the chairs and other items will need to be removed from the pool deck. The pool will be opening after our last session. There is also a grass area in the “camping” park that will be reserved for day tents.
In case of a lightening alert everyone will have to clear the deck not just get out of the water.
You can try:
- Hiking, jeeping, mountain biking, and climbing
- Visit the Ouray Museum and learn about mining, ghost towns, and more
- Visit Cascade Falls or Box Canyon Falls
- And so much more!
The Screaming Eels will not be selling bottled water. We will have many coolers of iced water stationed around the pool and park. We will be giving water bottles to the swimmers, coaches and officials. Help us help the environment.
